Basketball Coach Fired After 100-0 Win

I’ve heard of good sportsmanship rules, but this is unbelievable:

The coach of a Texas high school basketball team that beat another team 100-0 was fired Sunday, the same day he sent an e-mail to a newspaper saying he will not apologize “for a wide-margin victory when my girls played with honor and integrity.”

Apparently, lopsided games are unfair and shouldn’t be allowed. Tell that to the Gators who owned the last half of BCS Championship.

I mean, I understand the point of political correctness and the need to not be spoiled winners, but this notion of how there are no losers and you shouldn’t play with your strengths just because the opposing team is pathetic goes way beyond the surreal.

“There’s no crying in baseball!” There aren’t attendance ribbons for coming in second at a basketball game. And that coach should not have been fired for doing his job.
