Palin’s Rape Problem

Consider these two recent news stories about Sarah Palin:

1) Trying to spin herself out of trouble, Sarah Palin defends a controversial firing by saying the Public Safety Commissioner was too aggressive in setting up and pursuing funding for a new program combatting the high incidence of rape in Alaska. This is somehow a better explanation than the truth – she fired the Commissioner because he refused to fire her ex-brother-in-law.

2) As mayor of Wasilla, she apparently billed rape victims or their insurances companies for the cost of investigating the crime, to the tune of as much as $1,200 for these so-called “rape kits”, even though the town was flush with cash secured using federal earmarks obtained by the lobbyists she hired to help do just that.

Does Sarah Palin has a rape problem?

I mean, seriously. Would you expect a conservative, deeply religious, pro-life mother of five with a sexually active teenager to take such a cold-hearted view of the government’s role in enforcing the laws against rape?

  1. I know this is off topic, but I personally HATE Palin for being a hunter. I know that as a vegetarian and animal rights activist of 16yrs+ I’m in a small minority of the population. However, I think this woman represents several ideals not in tune with the women behind Hillary, myself, or many other animals that love animals and wildlife. And yes…I said ‘and wildlife,’ b/c Palin is the antithesis of Mike Gravel.

If Palin had her way, Alaska would have drill holes all over the place. To people like Sarah Palin disasters like Exxon Valdez & Chernobyl are just part of ‘progress.’

  2. Yes, I am an animal.
