Republicans in the Closet
I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Idaho Republican and U.S. Senator, Larry Craig, was arrested and pled guilty for charges related to allegedly soliciting lewd behavior in a public restroom.
Obviously, for a conservative Senator running for re-election, it’d be bad news to let news of an arrest become public, and even worse news for him to be outed as possibly gay (but at least creepy), but it’d be a perfect storm for the Senator to be arrested for something that outs him as being gay, right?
So he’s now he’s denying the charges that he pled guilty to and claimed he didn’t speak to a lawayer – not once in the two months between his arrest and his conviction.
I guess he felt that if he didn’t solicit from the undercover cop that he might become a crime statistic, too!
Republicans in the closet can be so funny when denying the obvious. But then, any Republican denying any obvious fact is funny – just watch Bush talk about Iraq or Alberto Gonzales. It’s just like watching Letterman.
