Whiny UK Politicians
I mentioned this a while ago, that the LibDems seem to have leadership trouble. Now that UK’s Liberal Democrat Leader Charles Kennedy has admitted to alcohol addiction, there’s a call for him to resign. And it’s getting quite fierce.
He’s had problems for a while, ever since the arrogantly ambitious Lib Dems were “disappointed” by an 11-seat gain in the House of Commons at the 2005 election, getting 62 seats and the largest caucus for their party in nearly 80 years. They, of course, actually thought they could get close to 100 seats or maybe even fight the Tories for official opposition status (who had 166 seats going into the election and 197 coming out). Talk about big heads.
Anyway, it also seems that when Kennedy offered to force a leadership election and stand as a candidate therein, the same people who bitched back in June and then allowed him a unanim0us re-election don’t want to face him now. Instead, they are trying to get him to leave the post all together and let them have an open contest for the job.
I say put up or shut up. No use whining about your party’s performance under Kennedy if you don’t have the balls to run against him for Leader.
