Unqualified Nominee Withdraws
It’s about time. As I fell off the blogging wagon for a few weeks, Harriet Miers fell off the proverbial cliff. Largely unqualified to handle constitutional law (she’s a corporate lawyer by profession), Miers also allowed her law license to expire in Texas and D.C. while working for “the smartest man she’s ever me” – that is, George W. Bush.
Needless to say, Miers was done for shortly after she was nominated, but Bush waited until DC was in fever pitch over possible indictments to pull her from the confirmation process.
Either way, I breathed a sigh of relief. Now we can get back to ideological fights about the Supreme Court, not just arguements about upholding a minimum standard of qualifications.
