Sink Is Out
A couple days old, but Florida CFO Alex Sink has passed on an opportunity to run for U.S. Senate. She’s thinking of running for re-election in 2010 when Charlie Crist runs for re-election as her boss, the Governor. The implication is quite clear that she will then run for Governor in 2014.
Too bad. She has revitalized her office greatly in recent years, and could have done the same in the Senate. For just one example of her talent, the CFO has taken an active approach to returning unclaimed property to its rightful owners. I have direct experience of this. Just recently, I received a check for a moneygram I had sent but was returned to me at my dorm room. I was never told of its arrival before I left six years ago, and not since, but her office saw to it to find my current address and rectify the $360 I had lost.
So yeah, it’s a shame she’s not running for Senate. Maybe I’ll back Kendrick Meek after all (he’s a Democrat Under 40 and would easily be the youngest Senator as he is among the youngest of congressmen).
