One Scandal For Another?
In electing Congressman Boehner (R-OH) as Majority Leader, the House GOP may be seeking to shift attention away from Washington scandals (and the closeness of Rep. Blunt to those mired in those scandals) by electing someone who is close to those mired in the Ohio Republican scandals.
Not exactly the best choice, but perhaps the lesser of two evils. Boehner, the Education committee chairman, was last in the leadership as Conference chair in 1998, and lost his post when the rank-and-file expressed outrage at losing seats (but not their majority) in a mid-term election.
And mad props to Congressman Adam Putnam. He may be the new Republican Policy Committee chair, but he’s one of the youngest members of Congress, and he’s from Florida. So congrats there.
