Hillary’s Tough Life
You know, once upon a time, I had sympathy for Hillary and respect for Bill. This campaign has totally soured me on them both. Today’s new soundbite from her is a good example.
Apparently, her life has made her tough and that anyone else in her shoes would have been tough, too. But I don’t buy that bullshit for a second.
Hillary was raised in a middle-class suburb of Chicago as a conservative Republican, her parents paid for college I’m guessing (no mention of scholarships in this bio I’m looking at), she attended the GOP convention in 1968, and went to Yale Law School before hitching her career to Bill’s. Sure, she tried enlisting in the Marine Corps after the Vietnam War ended, but that only shows she’s a feminist, sort of. And she put up with embarassment and humiliation from Bill’s infidelities – but she didn’t leave him, so apparently tough enough to smile at the press but not tough enough to tell her cheating husband to take a hike.
The only thing I think proves she’s tough is that as a liberal Democrat she’s tough enough to wage a subtlely racist campaign against Barack Obama whenever its suits her interest – and that’s she tough enough to spend some of her own fortune on those attack ads.
Good grief, someone should slap her.
There are real people out there who have had a rough life that would cause them to be tough. Some are even now in public life.
But come on, let’s get real. Hell, even in my own family, we’ve had it tougher than she did (actual poverty and indebtedness, fights, paying for college ourselves, etc.).
Someone should start a counter on how many times she lies, stretches the truth, or embellishes her life story. It’ll probably have to be digital, to ensure it can count high enough.
