Glenn Nye for Congress
Glenn Nye is running for Congress in Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District. He is one of several Democrats under the age of 35 running for Congress as part of what I call a “rising generation” of politicians seeking to represent a broader spectrum of Americans than just aging baby boomers and retirees.
Nye is a former Foreign Service officer with experience in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has advised the USAID agency for international development. He is running against Thelma Drake in the 2nd District, a swing district in the Hampton Roads area of southeast Virginia. Drake is a backbencher with little to show for her tenure in office.
I’ve been watching his race for a while and have decided to make my endorsement now. I think he would make an incredible addition to the House Democrats in Washington, representing a swing district heavy on military families, and would replace a largely do-little backbencher with another Democrat, like Jim Webb, who would be strong on defense and foreign policy issues precisely because of his first-hand experience in those areas.
Glenn Nye is just another politician looking out for himself and not the public at large. After researching the Washington homestead issue he and his brother like most politicians is trying to use an illegal loophole to benefit himself and his brother alone. its a crying shame that the people we trust to protect us and look out for our welfare are only looking out for their own interest. The country is in the financial shape it is now in because like most in congress and the senate no one can be trusted to do the right thing. I myself have decided to move to Canada in the near future. God bless the USA and all the good people that have been hurt by our elected officials.
I find it interesting that a two-term congresswoman from a red district would spend most of her opening statement at a debate trumpeting up an attack on her opponent. Does she not have anything good to say about herself and what she’s done in 4 years or what she might do in the next two?
Glenn Nye was working overseas during the years in questions, so where he placed his homestead exemption is hardly relevant.
The question is – what has Drake done to deserve our trust?
Oh yeah, nothing.
