Frist Needs a Political Defibilator
This weekend, the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC) held a straw poll on the 2008 presidential field. With home-field advantage, Senator Frist won the poll, despite a last-minute effort to write-in President Bush as a show of “support for the troops”.
I don’t know what is more pathetic – a Senate majority leader needing to have at least 30% of attendees to a conference on Southern Republicans being from his home state in order to win, or a nationally prominent Arizona senator needing to suck up to Bush in an effort to render the poll useless with a strong showing of “support for the troops”.
But I really don’t care. As long as they are all focused on 2008, the Democrats can be focused on 2006, and, you know, governing the country.
