A Cup of “Moderate” Joe

Media Matters has done a screen-capture of Joe Scarborough’s tweets.

Joe cannot believe that his party is objecting to the President’s public service announcement urging students to do well in school. They’re calling it “socialist indoctrination” and trying to wage a nationwide parent-lead boycott of his address. Never mind that their god, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush both gave speeches to students and both made unabashedly political appeals for their Administration’s policies – unlike President Obama’s intentions.

What’s amusing about this whole episode is that the commentators on Media Matters describe Joe as “middle-of-the-road”. He most certainly is not. He is a 1994 Gingrichite revoluntary who represented a ruby red district in north Florida before moving to MSNBC as its token Republican anchor.

It’s quite telling just how far to the right the crazies have dragged the Republican Party if Joe is the new moderate. That kind of unhinged stupidity might explain how Obama can be viewed as a socialist simply for asking kids to take their education seriously.
