3rd Force Now A Laughing Stock?
With the latest admission, it appears the UK Liberal Democrats are running the risk of giving away all the gains they’ve made since Prime Minister Tony Blair’s Labor party first took power in 1997, as their poll ratings have slipped considerably.
First, it was Charles Kennedy admitting he was an alcoholic. Then, it was the ugly and public effort to unseat him as party leader. Then, their Home Affairs spokesman, who was contemplating a race for party leader, admitted to having an affair with a “rent boy” – British for male prostitute.
Now, one of their leading leadership contenders has admitted that he has had gay relationships “from time to time” but wasn’t gay. So I guess he was admitting to being a bisexual?
To think, if the LibDems hadn’t gotten it into their heads that 62 seats – their best result in more than 80 years – wasn’t good enough, they might not be in a position to lose a good chunk of their caucus at the next parliamentary election, as most of these news stories might not have been discovered.
Sigh.
