Web-ovations
Okay, creating new words just creates a bad title. Heh, whatever.
Point is, starting tonight and over the weekend, I’m going to be attempting some renovations on my main website, www.kenkerns.com, which has largely functioned as a bland ad for my latest book. I hope to spruce it up, give it some new energy, replace old links, etc. I’ll still keep the blog here at http://speaking.kenkerns.com, but I hope to make some better use out of that space by making it a much clearer portal to my web content.
And if I have time, I’ll be making uber-minor tweaks to this blog, such as updating the top logo to look a little more like the official buttons and magnets that are available. But as you can see, I’ve already done some tweaks, such as adding the Obama and Warner banners to the left sidebar.
Anyway, just thought I’d give you a heads up of what I’ve going on.
UPDATE (Sunday night): I have a nice redesign planned – it’s not as fancy or “web 2.0” as I had planned, but that’s due to the incompatability of Joomla with the server host I’m using. Instead, I’m writing the HTML code myself. The tricky part for me is to not duplicate the content on this blog on the main website and viceversa. So I may move things around as I prep for the relaunch of kenkerns.com. Hopefully I won’t redesign the blog too once I’m done (I like this blog’s corpgreen theme because of the drop-down menu bar, but that content could shift back to the main site, defeating the point of using this theme).
Anyway, way too much babbling. Point of this update was to say the redesign is in progress and I hope to finish the bulk of the work tonight with the finishing touches, reshuffling of content, etc., coming later in the week.
