Lindsey Johns is Awesome

So, in the run up to this fall’s lackluster election season (where the state Democrats in Virginia have a better chance of winning their Senate than the Progress Party folks do at UF), I didn’t expect much.

But then Lindsey Johns comes in and wows me away. As chairwoman of the Rules & Ethics committee, student Sen. Johns expelled a number of senators Tuesday, including a former Senate President and would-be presidential candidate, Josh Weiss.

Granted, he wasn’t running again for the Senate, so the expulsion only meant he was kicked out of maybe one SG meeting. But that’s a huge step forward for ethical behavior in SG that she had the cajones to even do that much to a former Senate President.

Lindsey, you made me laugh in solidarity with your ethics. And that’s a good thing.
