The Brothers Grimm
I watched The Brothers Grimm last night. I didn’t end the movie thinking it was fantastic, as there were some cliches and weaknesses to the story. But the part I really enjoyed was the near-seamless use of various Grimm fairy tales, or pieces of tales, into a singular plot; they even use whole lines of dialogue from the tales at times.
It weakened near the end, with the brothers flying around the air, with swords aimed at each other. It was pretty clear the writer wasn’t sure how to get past that point and end the story.
But still, not a bad flick, especially for the opportunity to see a number of familiar stories glued together for a cohesive self-referential plot.
