Winter Weather Madness
So, last week I was started to get the sniffles again as the temperature dropped into the teens. Made my whole Christmas Week rather miserable, aside from the presents and calls from family. And now, as I have to go back to work, we’re seeing Spring-like weather in the 70s.
WTF?
Anyway, so what’s going on? Will UF see its opposition party split? Will Obama draw more than 3 million into DC for his Inauguration? Will Minnesota ever finish its recount? And will I ever finish my novel?
I don’t know the answers to those questions. But I will say this on the first one: I’m actually pretty shocked at the angst and backroom in-fighting over the O&B nomination. The UF Opposition has only won two Spring elections in the last 20 years (1992 and 2004). The odds are pretty slim. It’s great that two qualified candidates want the honor of leading the O&B ticket, but they shouldn’t be fighting like either of them is a lock for the Student Body Presidency. FBK and its ticket of drones remain the favorite, regardless of Obama-mania.
And as for my novel, I blame this cold. I’m about 165 pages into the current draft, with expectations of another 80 or so to go, depending on the pace I set. I know what’s going to happen, and I know which characters will die, and which ones will get their just desserts, but I just haven’t been able to sit in front of the computer long enough to type.
