Commutes from Hell
I don’t know if it was the record heat or what, but 3 of my 4 commutes this week (Wednesday was a day off) all got stuck in the train station because the train ahead of us was off-loaded (mostly mechanical problems).
I wouldn’t grumble about it usually, but three in a row was just obnoxious. Thankfully the whole ordeal didn’t cost me too much time to get to my destinations, but still.
Have you had any horror stories from your commutes?
Well, I don’t take the train to work (Milwaukee isn’t great when it comes to mass transit), and I have to drive about 30 minutes to and from work, but I actually enjoy my commute. I get to drive right along Lake Michigan most of the way to work, so it’s actually a nice relaxing drive.
If I drove, it wouldn’t be bad at all, because I’d pass the Pentagon and the Lincoln Memorial during the trip. And on a good day driving takes 20-30 minutes at most, whereas public transit basically doubles that. The subway train system isn’t bad most of the time, I just got cranky this week.
