Catching Up
This week was really brief for me – a 3-day holiday and 2 days of training at work, sandwiching 2 days of having to put together the necessary calls for a timely work project.
Unfortunately, the training was for pension processing (something I already do), and included people who never have done it before. So, the training was a waste for me, but too much over the head for the new people (since it was going pretty quickly through the issues without many examples).
And the work project, ugh – my manager (from whom I took on my new role at the Funds) had every year pulled each child or spousal support order out of its filing to look up the phone number, review, and ask the government agency if we need to set aside part of the holiday bonus for it. Not once was a spreadsheet created in order to save time and energy. So, part of my only 2 available work days this week was spent compiling the call sheet. The other day was spent doing the calling.
And I bet she’s going to complain that I haven’t returned other calls or done other work in a timely fashion as I scrambled to do this stuff and attend the mindless but still mandatory training.
Gotta love it when you really like your job, but can’t stand some parts of your day-to-day.
